Lorem Ipsum // Last Days of 1984 LIVE

I had so much fun painting in Twisted Pepper on Saturday night. Thanks to Eleven Eleven for having me…and I hope I didn’t make too much of a mess with all the splashing about I did on stage. I first listened to Lorem Ipsum’s music in September. It’s ridiculous that it took until Saturday just

Adebisi Shank, (-_-)

I got a request in at the weekend for a painting to any Adebisi Shank track. Then I got confused with another message from someone else who I thought was requesting (-_-) because they sent me a link to it, and so that’s why I listened to that track on repeat. It’s not as heavily charged

Pearl Jam, Given To Fly

Doing requests can be difficult. I feel somewhat pressurized as to what people who request me to paint to certain songs expect to see. So, listening to Pearl Jam last week my head was far too clouded with this. What I started to do was far too constrained and thought out. I was listening to

RGBeats @ Twisted Pepper Saturday 28th January

Geography, History, and Latin combine like some kind of nightmarish late night Leaving Cert grinds session this Saturday 28th January. Three acts who like twiddling knobs as much fingering guitar strings descend on Twisted Pepper for a night of unholy fuzz and some live painting from yours truly. The acts you should check out before coming

Painting Wars But Avoiding Warpaint

Never thought I’d end up painting a war scene. Like All Saints Never Eva. But…I guess that’s what happens when you get your paints out while listening to PJ Harvey’s fascinating ‘Let England Shake’. It’s interesting to know that she took inspiration from the paintings of Salvador Dali and Goya (probably The Third of May)

Introducing…P.Earson

This has almost nothing to do with what RGBeats stands for so far. But…why limit things right? I was thinking about making a short illustrated series with this character, provisionally carrying the name of P.Earson, who has an ear for a face. Being a stem off RGBeats I think we can get away with calling

Grimes – Genesis

I listened to a song by Montreal’s vocal sampling pixie, Grimes a lot last year. The song was Vanessa. So when my friend The Bubble Boy told me that she had a new track out, I diligently got my paints and started to listen to the new track called Genesis on repeat. Fortunate enough to have seen Grimes

Get Your Party Hat OOAN

So le cool are running a covers competition and I decided to paint something for the e-zine I look forward to scrubbing through every week. They are looking for cover submissions to roll out over January and February. I had a look at the listings to see if anything of interest is on over the

You, Yes You!

I did this painting before Christmas, listening to tUnE-yArDs, You Yes You, on repeat. Patricia Dowling requested it after seeing the RGBeats stall at Block T for the Christmas flea market. The song has a tribal feel to it and I think this came out in the painting. I used a roller and just went nuts
