A couple of years back I came across this absolute gem of an exhibition in Berlin. It was called Papergirl.
The concept of Papergirl is really beautiful. Artists donate a piece to be shown in the Papergirl exhibition and at the end of the exhibition run, Papergirl delegates go out on their bicycles and distribute the art throughout the city to random punters.
Having started in Berlin in 2006, I was excited to hear that artist Mice Hell decided to bring Papergirl to Dublin. What’s better is that I’ve been asked to do a live painting at the launch, which is happening in the SupaFast building on Thursday, June 21st.
If you’d like to submit a piece to be part of Dublin’s first Papergirl exhibition, all you have to do is send your piece to the following address:
Papergirl Dublin, c/o Blackchurch Print Studio, 4 Temple Bar. Dublin 2, Ireland
I was so inspired by it all in 2010 that I decided to write a song about one of the art pieces at it (listen below), a pencil drawing of an octopus and a mermaid hugging created by artist Polina Soloveichik.
I’m really looking forward to this one and hope to see some familiar faces there!
